JaeHo Advent Drabbles 1-5
Jaejoong/Yunho Advent Drabbles 1-5

Note: These were written for the JaeHo-Detox Advent Challenge and are all set in present times assuming the split of the group is in place.

1. Sunshine //PG//

“And cut!” the director called.

“I’m sorry,” Jaejoong immediately apologized, bowing deeply and assuming that he was the reason they had to reset and run the scene again.

“It’s not you,” the director reassured him absently as people scrabbled to do their jobs in a timely fashion. One of the young women there to care for the stars of the drama slipped a jacket over his shoulders. “The darn sun is coming out and we have to readjust our lighting. It will take a few minutes. Ten minute break!” he called.

Yunho waited until the directors attention was elsewhere before he beckoned Jaejoong over to him. “You were really good,” the leader reassured the man as he approached.

“Really?” Jaejoong knew it was a bit foolish to still be carrying such insecurities after so many years of working as an actor.

Yunho’s smile was warm. “Really, I enjoy watching you act.”

Jaejoong grinned as he slid into the chair with his name on it. “Aren’t you supposed to be on the other side of the set? I am the devil remember. When your manager finally finds you he will throw a fit.”

“Let him,” Yunho shrugged. “Maybe we should give him something to really throw a fit about.”

It was a wonder that the director had managed to get them to act in a primetime drama together. He understood the motivation for choosing them since Yunho and Jaejoong both still shared a deep chemistry that came across on screen, but he was surprised SME had agreed to it, especially after trying to remove the trio from any sort of promotional outlet. Perhaps they were just that desperate to boost TVXQ’s waning popularity.

“Mm,” Jaejoong hummed, closing his eyes and tipping his head back to take in the sun. Its rays reminded him of the warm touch of a lover against his face, a poor substitute for the man standing beside him, but something he had forced himself to become accustom too. “This might be a closed set but I bet at least twenty of these people would love to snap a picture of us to share with our fans.”

“We could give them a great one,” Yunho’s murmur was low near his ear and sent a thrill of heat curling down his spine. He willed the man to reach out and touch him, and he likely would have if they hadn’t heard the screech of a manager.

“Jung Yunho! Get over here this instant!”

“Your owner is calling,” Jaejoong teased.

“I have a free afternoon next week,” Yunho told him, his voice low. “We can lie in the sun just like this. I love seeing you in the sunlight.”

“It’s a date then,” Jaejoong agreed, dragging his tongue over his lips slowly and deliberately knowing that the teasing motion would only make the other man contemplate misbehavior even further.

“Yunho!” The manager’s hiss was closer now, signaling the man’s approach. “You can’t be over here! It will be both of our jobs.”

“Oh no,” Yunho muttered darkly. “What would I ever do if I got fired?” Jaejoong suppressed a chuckle at the statement and did his best to feign a light doze. “Just a second there seems to be something on your lip.”

Jaejoong’s hand was lifting, halfway through its path to his face, when he felt the damp press of a finger to his lips. Yunho pretended to wipe something that he was certain wasn’t there with a gentle caress and Jaejoong wished he had opened his eyes to see Yunho wet his own finger before pressing it to the lips. The indirect kiss was the closest they had come to touching all week.

“See you later,” Yunho breathed, then he was pulling away and raising his voice in clear argument with his manager. Jaejoong missed his presence immediately, but he simply sighed and tried to hold onto the indirect kiss from his lover that had sent a warmth through him far deeper than any kiss the sun could produce.

2. Snow //PG//

“You’re not going to escape to Canada again this year are you?” Yunho’s voice asked him through the electronic device in his hand.

“No I have recordings,” Jaejoong responded immediately taking a sip from the bottle in his hand. “And I didn’t escape, the producer wanted to film somewhere other than Korea.”

“Sure and Hyunjoong came with you for moral support.”

Jaejoong snorted, “You have no reason to be jealous; it isn’t like we could do anything with the whole staff swarming around all the time. You know how that goes.” With a grunt he flopped into the overstuffed armchair in his living room, wishing not for the first time he could be talking to the man in person and not through a cell phone.

“Yeah... I have to go. Changmin and I have a photo shoot starting in twenty minutes,” Yunho told him, remorse clear in his voice.

“At,” Jaejoong paused to glance at the clock behind him, “eleven o’clock at night?”

“You know that that goes,” Yunho teased, throwing his own words back at him. “Did you get my gift?”

“If by gift you mean the giant snowball that I found outside my apartment door and am currently letting melt in my sink per your hand written directions, then yes.” He sent a scowl in the direction of his kitchen wondering, not for the first time, why he couldn’t just throw the cold object back outside where it belonged.

“Do you remember our first snowfall together?” Yunho asked softly.

It took little effort to think back to one of their first happy moments after they had become a couple. Stealing away from the filming set as the crew tried to deal with the sudden onset of unexpected snow. The light flakes clinging to Yunho’s hair and dancing across their skin as the giggled like children. How Yunho’s lips had chased the path of the snow, flirtatious and playful in a way that he rarely was. Jaejoong would never forget it, and would always miss those lighter times. “Yes.”

“We’ll have another snowfall together soon. Maybe not this year or the next, but soon,” Yunho promised.

“I wish it was now,” he muttered, glancing out the glass door to his balcony where he could see the softly falling snow.

“Go stand out in the snow if you like Jae, and imagine every flake that touches your skin being followed be the press of my lips,” Yunho instructed.

Jaejoong snorted. “You just want me to catch a cold and look like crap for my schedule tomorrow.”

“I would bring you soup,” the man offered.

“Sure you would,” Jaejoong agreed. “Go you’re going to be late and then they will wonder why you were talking to your grandmother for so long,” he ordered, knowing that the man hadn’t likely named his number as anything resembling his name in his phone.

“Actually it is my cousin in this phone. I’ll see you tomorrow Jae,” Yunho breathed.

“Goodnight,” Jaejoong whispered and waited until he heard the click of the line cutting out before he hung up his own phone. He rose, tossing the electronic device back onto the padded cushion he had left. Shuffling to the window he contemplated his options. His makeup artist would probably kill him if he ended up with a cold which never failed to make him appear like death was coming for him, but he couldn’t resist Yunho’s suggestion. Despite his better judgment he slipped onto the balcony to finish his beer with the snow kissing his face.

When he was done, and thoroughly chilled, Jaejoong returned to the warmth of his apartment and the security of throw blanket wrapped around his shoulders. Moving to the kitchen to take care of the bottle reminded him of the snow in his sink, now a pile of melting slush. With a sigh he moved to it intending to rinse away any dirt it had left from its demise.

There in his sink, amidst the soggy remains of snow, was something that shimmered in the light. Jaejoong reached for it carefully, pulling the object free of the snow and turning the tap on warm to heat the cold metal in his hands. When it was significantly warmed, he turned off the water and dried it carefully with a towel.

Jaejoong sighed both at the necklace and at the man responsible for it, before slipping it around his neck. Yunho was simply too sweet about things sometimes. Quickly he went through the motions of preparing for bed and slipped beneath the covers in his pajama pants. When he closed his eyes, his fingers immediately found the small charm on the necklace and closed there as he drifted to sleep, cradling a small silver snowflake in his hand.

3. Present //PG//

“It’s too early to open Christmas presents,” Jaejoong grumbled, staring down at the package in his hands that had been wrapped with silver paper. He didn’t mind receiving gifts early on principle, but it was hard to reciprocate when he hadn’t yet finished buying his gifts for the other man.

“I know but I don’t know if I will see you on Christmas and I want to be here when you open it,” Yunho replied, rubbing at the smooth skin on Jaejoong’s ankle resting on his lap.

“But it’s-”

“Just open it,” Yunho cut him off, gentle fingers working their way up the other man’s leg.

“Fine,” Jaejoong snapped, irritated at being cut off. He flipped the box over on his lap and fit his fingers under the seam of the paper pulling the tape away from it carefully. The members had always laughed at the care he had nearly always taken to open his packages, but there were things that he liked to save, things that brought back fond memories.

Beneath the silver paper was a plain brown box that he removed the lid from. Within its protective embrace sat what appeared to be a black book. On the cover framed and smiling, was an image that he had never seen of Changmin and Yunho laying in their pajamas on a wide bed.

“Yunho,” Jaejoong murmured, carefully lifting the book from the box and moving the discarded packaging to the floor. With it gone he settled the book on his lap where it had been and flipped the cover open slowly.

What he had thought to be a photo book turned out to be a scrapbook, pictures placed amongst scraps of colored paper and stickers that Yunho had picked up somewhere. The first page held a photo of Changmin. The young man was scowling in it and clutching a towel over his more private bits. His right hand was extended towards the camera as if he was trying to bat it away. Diagonally to it was a photo of Yunho, his back to the camera as he adjusted the temperature of the shower. The next page held three pictures of Changmin fast asleep in three different locations and on three different days judging by the clothing. The page after that held the same but for Yunho.

“Yunho,” he breathed again, blinking back the tears that were forming in his eyes. On every page was another few pictures taken at unsuspecting times, shots that showed the people in their natural state of living. They were shots of reality, not the falsehood that they put on for the official cameras. In these Jaejoong could clearly see the happiness, pain, sorrow, exhaustion, and a range of other emotions that he had come to identify with life.

“I know how you are with your pictures, with seeing a side of us that no one else can. Changmin and I aren’t as good at it as you are but we tried. We wanted to show you the parts of us you have missed,” Yunho told him.

“It’s perfect,” Jaejoong whispered. He was far from being finished looking through the book that would become his new treasure, but he closed and set it on the coffee table before his tears fell and damaged it. “Yunho,” he called pulling his leg free of the other man’s lap and shifting. Yunho’s hands helped to guide him as he rose and straddled the other man’s hips, settling his weight on the man who he still thought of as his leader. “Thank you so much.”

“You’re welcome,” Yunho replied, sliding his hands up over Jaejoong’s legs in a slow drag to his waist.

Leaning forward Jaejoong tried to convey his meaning with the press of lips, trying to send Yunho the emotion that he wasn’t certain he could put into words. Yunho kissed him deeply, sliding his hands over the man’s body in slow soothing pets.

“There is a blank page at the back,” Yunho murmured when Jaejoong pulled away for a moment. “I brought my Polaroid camera and I thought maybe we could take pictures of us tonight to fill it.”

Jaejoong inhaled sharply at the idea. It was dangerous to attempt to have anything that left evidence of their time together, but more than that it had been some time since Yunho had been able to stay the night. “You can stay?”

“My manager thinks I’m at Heechul’s and Heechul agreed to cover for us. I’ll go over there early in the morning so they don’t suspect anything,” Yunho told him.

“Thank you,” Jaejoong said softly. “For one of the best presents I have ever gotten.”

“I’m glad I could give it to you,” Yunho told him and then pulled him down for another kiss.

4. Blanket //PG//

“I believe the proper teasing thing to do right now is to ask you what you are wearing?” Yunho’s voice breathed through the ear piece.

“My clothing,” Jaejoong replied dryly. “Actually I think this shirt may be Yoochun’s and the pajama pants might be Junsu’s but the underwear is mine.”

“You know,” Yunho’s voice replied and he could hear the amusement in it. “It is infinitely less sexy when you bring the other guys into it.”

“Well you asked,” Jaejoong reminded him.

“Tired?” Yunho asked.

“Yeah, I had a full day. In some ways it’s nice to come back to an empty apartment, but in others it’s kinda lonely,” the man admitted.

“You could always move in with Yoochun. I know he would take you in second.”

“His family lives with him now. I don’t want to mess with that,” Jaejoong admitted with a sigh.

“I’m sorry,” Yunho whispered uncertain of what to say to sooth the other man’s loneliness.

“I have the blanket you gave me for Christmas a few years ago,” Jaejoong admitted, pulling the soft object closer to himself so that he could wrap in it.

“Just imagine that it wrapped around your body is my arms holding you safe and warm,” Yunho told him.

“I miss that,” Jaejoong admitted.

“Me too.”

“When is the next time you are free to sneak away?” Jaejoong asked, hoping that it would be some time soon.

“Probably not for another month or so,” Yunho admitted. “They are working us pretty hard.”

“Ah good luck with that,” Jaejoong tried not to let his disappointment be heard.

“Jae,” Yunho said softly.

“I’ll stay on the line until you fall asleep,” Yunho reassured him.

Jaejoong paused for a moment unsure if he should ask what it was that had crossed his mind. “Sing for me?” spilled out before he could really stop it.

“I would love to,” Yunho told him.

Jaejoong sighed and pulled the blanket tighter around him as the man’s rich voice picked up a melody. It took several minutes, but eventually he drifted off to sleep with the sound of his lover’s voice in his ear and the man’s love wrapped about him like a blanket.

5. Candle //PG-13//

Candle light flickered over the golden expanse of skin, bathing it in a warm glow. Lips traced the illuminated spine, dancing lightly all the way down the broad expanse of skin. They played over the black ink beneath the skin that didn’t interrupt or mar it as some would think. Instead making the expanse a canvas of a life painted with careful lines and strokes.

His tongue traced numerals engraved upon the elegant line of his lower spine, reminders of the dates which the man beneath him was brought into the word. Spread from them like the wings of his new life, were the names of the two men who had broken free with him. Upon those he pressed a single kiss, a thank you to the men who stood beside the form beneath him when he couldn’t.

Moving up the man’s spine he traced the name of their band forever engraved between his shoulders, a memory of the thing that had made them who they were. He caressed the swirling designs carrying words of hope printed upon translucent wings with gentle swipes of his tongue.

“Yunho,” the man beneath him breathed. “You’re killing me.”

“But it’s a good death,” he murmured pressing his lips to the nape of Jaejoong’s neck and nipping lightly.

“Very good,” Jaejoong agreed, sighing and making no move to hurry the man that moved over his body. Yunho smiled and set his lips against the warm skin, tracing invisible lines over the man’s flesh until the candle burned itself into nothing.

AN: Well you can call me sentimental but I simply have to believe that there are no hard feelings between the group and that they somehow have by now found a way to talk to one another. No one can convince me that HoMin didn't know the lawsuit was coming or didn't get their say in it. Those boys went through too much together to turn on one another. I believe that someday we will see TVXQ together as one. 'Always keep the faith.' *climbs off soapbox* Hehe I hoped you enjoyed these.

*squeals at all the never-ending fluffiness* Yunho's so romantic in all of these, I love all his little gestures - especially the necklace in the snowball, that was ADORABLE. And I definitely love the way your optimism shines through all the drabbles! Because after all, there is more to life than angst ^_^

I think that a drama starring the both of them is the reality that EVERYONE wants, that would be amazing! I wouldn't be surprised if half the staff were secretly taking pictures either lol. However much as I loved the first I think my favourite would have to be the present one too - it's just the most perfect gift ever, it fills me with warm feelings lol! And I see that Heechul managed to worm his way into your fic once again - unsurprising ;D

And on a vaguely related note, I FINALLY got around to starting to watch Infinite's Sesame Player - Sungyeol is such a BRAT lol I love him xD
